Those new Hearth Products Controls fire pit inserts had the cheerleaders chanting: “When I say high, you say low. High?? High??” People didn’t know why those cheerleaders were doing this until they saw HPC’s commercial for the new flame adjustment model with the fully-loaded remote control and smartphone compatibility. Some people said that the 24″ round insert comes fully assembled with an 18″ star-shaped, hub-raised burner for a more natural-looking flame pattern. It even emits up to 125k BTUs of heat. Supposedly, the gas fitting is welded down to a flat burner pan that has some weep holes for water drainage to prevent corrosive damage. If you really want some extra protection, you may want to get one of those vinyl covers, too. They’re sold separately but keep your unit in like-new condition. The 120-volt model, fueled by propane gas, may require a power adapter for use with accessories that have a lower voltage such as the electronic timers or the emergency stop key. They are sold separately too, but nothing beats the price of peace of mind. The commercial had the insert placed inside a recess-mounted enclosure with built-in sidewalls, which worked perfectly with this flat design. The sidewalls kept the decorative media in place.
